Maple syrup gingerbread home made popcorn

--> recette en français

After a good red wine hot chocolate, this is a home made treat I propose to you today, to enjoy during your Christmas holidays in front of a movie or a series or for your New Year's Eve if you have planned to do it at home.

This was the first time I made home made popcorn, I used to buy boxes that you put in the microwave but now I'm done because, after all, home made popcorn takes just a few minutes more to prepare and you can control the sugar or fat quantity you use and add your favorite topping or even eat it naked.

I loved this home made popcorn so much I made some as edible gifts to put under the Christmas tree, some with maple syrup and gingerbread topping as in this recipe and some with just melted chocolate for those who are not a fan.

Maple syrup gingerbread popcorn

Cooking time : 10 minutes
Resting time : 20 minutes
Serving : 2 people

- 40 g / 1,41 oz popcorn kernels
- 1 tsp neuter oil
- 10 g / 0,35 oz butter(or vegan margarine or deodorized coconut oil)
- 20 g / 0,70 oz organic whole blond sugar de sucre blond complet (or another non refined sugar)
- 1 tsp gingerbread spices
- 1 pinch of salt
- 25 g / 0,88 oz  maple syrup

  • Pour the oil in a medium saucepan and cover all the inside with a cooking brush or paper towel

  • Pour the popcorn kernels, cover with a lid and cook on medium heat tossing the saucepan regularly without taking off the lid, this will take a few minutes.

  • When all the kernels have popped and you don't hear any more 'pop', take the saucepan off the heat and pour the popcorn in a large bowl immediately.

  • In the saucepan still hot, pour the butter (or margarine or oil), sugar, spices, salt and syrup and stir with a wooden spoon when the fast has begun to melt and let simmer for 1 minute without touching it.

  • Prepare two tablespoons next to the bowl, stir the topping and pour it over the popcorn, stir immediately with the spoons to coat all the popcorn.

  • Let it cool down for a about 15 to 20 minutes before serving. Enjoy it in from of your favorite movie or series or you can offer it as an edible gift if you haven't celebrated Christmas yet or on any other occasion.
